Good News for You
Have you ever wondered,
“Am I right with God?”
“What does God think about me?”
“What do I need to do to have a relationship with God?”
Thankfully, the Bible gives us the answers to these questions and others. And those answers are good news.
Our Story
The Bible teaches that God created the world good and without sin or tragedy:
“And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.”
— Genesis 1:31
But mankind has rejected God’s rule. The first man deliberately sinned against God, and ever since then all people have lived in rebellion against Him. The Bible calls this sin. Sin is not merely a mistake; it is rebellion against our good and wise Creator.
Many people think, “Gee, I’m not that bad.” But Scripture teaches that sin includes not only our actions, but also our thoughts, desires, and attitudes.
The truth is, we have all sinned against God.
“None is righteous, no, not one.”
— Romans 3:10
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23
Because God is holy and just, our sin deserves judgment. Jesus warned:
“Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”
— Luke 13:3
But this is not the end of the story.
God’s Solution
God would be perfectly just to punish sinners. But God is also merciful and loving.
So God the Son came into the world as a man: Jesus Christ.
Jesus perfectly obeyed God’s Law without sin. He was crucified and suffered the judgment that sinners deserve. Though innocent, He died in the place of guilty people.
He was buried, and on the third day He rose again, conquering sin and death.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree...”
1 Peter 2:24
What we could never do for ourselves, God has done through Jesus Christ.
The Invitation
Jesus invites sinners to come to him, to believe in him, to trust him for salvation.
“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life;
whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”
John 3:36
Jesus’ apostles preached the gospel to everyone after his resurrection and ascension. Many heard the good news that Jesus had died to save men and women from their sins, and they wanted the eternal life that Jesus offers.
The apostle John declared, “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” 1 John 1:8-10
When preaching in Athens, Paul declared to his hearers, “The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.” Acts 17:30-31
Everyone is invited to come to Jesus Christ.
